Sending aid in the midst of Hurricane Harvey

Even though the wind and rain may be diminishing in Texas, the pain and devastation still remain from Hurricane Harvey.

Kettering Health Network’s Department of Missions and Development is working on a plan that allows all of their employees to aid those suffering in the aftermath of this storm.

Immediate action

A group of firefighters from multiple local agencies departed last evening to help with Houston relief. Kettering Health Network provided donations in the form of medical supplies and personal protective equipment.

How you can help

The greatest need right now is financial support to aid in the continued evacuation of people and to deliver the services associated with that effort.

If you are inclined to provide financial support, we have identified six organizations that could use the funds and have a strong track record for their stewardship of finances.

  1. Adventist Development and Relief Agency:
  2. Adventist Community Service:
  3. American Red Cross – Texas Gulf Region:
  4. Save the Children:
  5. Salvation Army:
  6. Catholic Charities:

Future plans

As needs are assessed and the situation in Houston becomes better understood, we will be working with the other Adventist health systems in America to coordinate support through our hospitals in Texas as they care for the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

In our discussions with our sister hospitals in Texas, they made it clear that at this point we should not be sending teams of people or supplies to the area as their immediate focus is to ensure that people are moved to safe locations and out of harm’s way.

Please join us in continued prayers for the hundreds of thousands of people whose lives have been upended, our colleagues and hospitals in Texas, government agencies, local non-profits, and the faith communities doing their best to deliver hope and help to those in need.
