Three Kettering Health Network Emergency Departments Accredited as Senior-friendly

November 22, 2019

Emergency departments at Kettering Medical Center, Sycamore Medical Center, and Kettering Health Network Middletown have been accredited as senior-friendly by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP).

The ACEP’s Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation (GEDA) program is an initiative to improve and standardize emergency care for senior patients. Goals include enhanced staffing and education, senior-focused policies and protocols—including transitions of care, quality improvement and outcomes, and more efficient preparation of the treatment area.

“Being accredited as a Geriatric emergency department furthers our commitment to provide enhanced care and education for our older adult patients,” says John Weimer, vice president of Emergency, Trauma, and Operations Command Center for Kettering Health Network. “Some of these enrichments include staffing, training, care coordination, quality improvements and holistic care to our older adult community. We intend to have all 12 of our emergency departments accredited as senior-friendly by spring of 2020.”
