We set up health and wellness booths at various events to educate the community.
Each booth costs $40/hour.
The sun safety booth costs $50/hour.
These booths include the following:
- A1c awareness: A Kettering Health registered nurse will use visual aids and literature to discuss the importance of having an A1c test to identify prediabetes and diabetes.
- Alcohol and your health: This booth conveys the short- and long-term effects of alcohol consumption on health. Individuals can test their knowledge of alcohol consumption’s affect on physical performance and weight maintenance. Those who visit the booth can also use alcohol goggles to assess coordination and judgment when drinking.
- Bone Health: The osteoporosis awareness booth uses visual aids to educate on the importance of bone health and tips for improvement through nutrition and exercise.
- Cancer awareness: This booth focuses on age- and gender-specific cancer screening guidelines. A healthcare provider will also offer tips on lowering risks. Booths with a specific focus area—such as breast, prostate, or colon cancer—are available by request.
- Decide to Be Heard–Advance Directive: Decide to Be Heard is an important, community-wide initiative to help adults create advance directives. The advance directive, which includes a living will and healthcare power of attorney, ensures healthcare choices are followed if a person cannot speak for themselves. After visiting the booth, attendees can call Community Outreach at (937) 558-3988 to schedule an appointment with a Decide to Be Heard-trained facilitator who can guide them through the decision-making process and help them complete documents. There is no charge for this booth.
