Support Groups & Education

The Kettering Health Network provides many different support groups and services - from cancer support to caring for an aging parent. Our support groups provide comfort, education, and resources to patients and their families. Learning about your cancer can be overwhelming and you may have many questions-we are here to help and talk about it with your care team and with the people close to you.

Cancer Support Group - Survivors & Caregivers United

3rd Wednesdays from 1-3PM, Grandview Medical Center, cafe dining room unless otherwise noted

Patients, survivors, and their families and friends are welcome. This group includes guest speakers and discussion topics.

Description:

CLIMB:  Children’s Lives Include Moments of Bravery

Wednesdays, September 18 – October 23, 2019, 5:30-7PM

Kettering Cancer Center – 1st floor classroom

A 6 week program for children ages 5 – 12 whose family member has cancer.  Using conversation and creative projects, our trained professionals will present this program developed by The Children’s Treehouse Foundation.  Focus will be on the child’s strengths and the program will increase his/her ability to cope with stress associated with the illness. Yoga for Cancer Patients & Survivors

This class will now be held in the Years Ahead Health Center Classroom,  6661 Clyo Road, Centerville, OH .  Classes are every Wednesday, from 6pm - 7pm.

This is a free program offered in collaboration with Maple Tree Cancer Alliance.  Individual sessions are also available at 8 area locations.  Please call Maple Tree Cancer Alliance at 937-688-3940 or 937-281-3990 to register or for more information.

This is a 9-week scripture-based support group looking at how our Christian faith can impact a cancer journey. This group uses the Cancer Companoins materials designed by Karen Tripp, LFMT.

Patients, survivors, and care partners are all welcome. $10 suggested one-time donation for the workbook (couples can share)

Navigating the Breast Cancer Journey class

This free class is for anyone newly diagnosed with breast cancer and includes an overview of breast cancer disease processes, treatment options, and resources such as certified oncology nurses, lymphedema therapist, wellness expert, breast cancer survivors, support groups, and more.
