Soin Medical Center celebrates completion of radiation therapy center

Kettering Health Network is celebrating the completion of the new radiation therapy center at Soin Medical Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, May 3. Kettering Cancer Care at Soin Medical Center is located at the hospital’s Ollie Davis Pavilion at 3535 Pentagon Boulevard in Beavercreek.

Soin Medical Center also will host a community open house for its entire comprehensive cancer services on Wednesday, May 9 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. In addition to tours, the public will be able to meet oncology physicians who will offer patients the most advanced patient-centered care in an environment that focuses on healing the whole person—mind, body and spirit. Refreshments will be served.

Due to the overwhelming success of the new Kettering cancer center, Kettering Cancer Care expanded the services it provides at Soin Medical Center. In phase one of the expansion, the infusion center doubled in size to 13,000 square feet to accommodate more chemotherapy patients. The number of clinical exam rooms also was doubled to support Kettering Cancer Care at Soin Medical Center’s growing on-site medical oncology team. The expanded infusion center opened in fall 2017.

Phase two of the expansion added the latest in radiation therapy technology. The 8,300-square-foot radiation therapy center includes a linear accelerator for radiation therapy, as well as a CT simulator and scanner to support the addition of an on-site radiation oncology team.

The expansion costs approximately $8 million. Greene Medical Foundation provided a $3 million grant to cover part of the cost.
