Dwaine was reading on a retaining wall when he lost his footing and fell, smashing his wrist. As an avid guitar player and dentist, the possibility of losing mobility in his wrist was troubling.
Dr. Brent Bamberger, DO took an X-ray of Dwaine's wrist and saw that it was severely smashed. He told Dwaine that they could cast his wrist putting him out of commission for six weeks or, he could perform surgery on his wrist getting him back to work within around four days. Dwaine had his surgery at Southview Medical Center and received a plate, four screws, and two pins to stabilize his joint. The care Dwaine received at Southview made him feel comfortable and well cared for. He says of the staff, "It was like talking to your friends; like talking to your neighbors."
The Hand Trauma Center at Southview helped Dwaine get back to doing what he loves. After rehab therapy, he regained full mobility in his hand and is back to playing guitar with no complications.
