The DAISY Award

The DAISY Award was established nationally to recognize the extraordinary care nurses perform every day. Our nurses are being honored throughout the year with the DAISY Award.

The not-for-profit DAISY Foundation is based in Glen Ellen, CA and was established by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Patrick died at the age of 33 in late 1999 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), an auto-immune disease. The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.

CAMEOS of CARING

The Cameo of Caring award is given in recognition of registered nurses who exemplify wisdom, advocacy, and caring in professional nursing. Wright State University honors exceptional nurses in the Dayton region each year. Six KHN nurses were recognized this past year:

Star Search and Employee of the Month

The Star Search award program is for outstanding service. Any employee can be nominated by a colleague, patient, or a patient's family or friends. Star Search nominees are then under consideration for the Employee of the Month award.
