Training Program Director
All Heart, All the Time! The Kettering Medical Center Cardiovascular Fellowship Training Program is designed to produce physicians and investigators of the highest quality. It allows trainees the opportunity to have the broadest clinical exposure, technical expertise, and research training.

The KMC Cardiovascular Fellowship Training Program was established in 2008 and is presently an ACGME accredited program. We currently provide six fellowship training positions and to date maintain a 100% ABIM board passage rate. Our fellowship is a three year program and requires completion of an Internal Medicine Residency, graduation from a LCME accredited medical school or an ECGME Certification.

We have two cardiology fellowship training positions per year. Applicants are required to submit their complete applications through the Electronic Residency Applicant Service (ERAS) and must enroll in the Medical Specialties Matching Program (MSMP). Upon completion of the Cardiovascular Fellowship Training Program, fellows have the option of applying to our one year Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program.

We are committed to training fellows in Cardiology encompassing the study and practice of patient-centered care from adolescence to old age, during health and all stages of illness. We have placed renewed emphasis on clinical competency and assessment. At Kettering we emphasize scientific knowledge, the scientific method of problem solving, evidence-based decision making, a commitment to lifelong learning, and an attitude of caring derived from humanistic and professional values.

Interventional Cardiology
Program Director
The Kettering Medical Center Interventional Cardiology Program is an ACGME accredited program that began in 2011. Currently, we have one Interventional Fellowship training position per year. Applicants interested in our program must submit their applications through the Electronic Residency Applicant Service (ERAS) in order to be considered for the Interventional Cardiology position.

The Interventional Fellow works in a high volume (over 900 interventional procedures per year) center, utilizing the most cutting edge technologies. These include diagnostic catheterization, complex coronary intervention, peripheral intervention, device implantation (PFO/ASD closures), carotid stenting, and aortic stenting. They use cardiac support devices including aortic balloon pumps, Impella drives, and LVADs. The fellow's primary responsibility is hands-on training in the lab.

Our cath lab is located in the new five-story Benjamin & Marian Schuster Heart Hospital. Interventional Fellows have the opportunity to gain experience in not only routine coronary and peripheral procedures, but also Impella LV assist devices, ventricular assist devices such as Heart Mate and Abiomed BVS, ASD closure devices, carotid stenting, and aortic stent graphing.

The KMC Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Training Program provides an excellent learning experience and generates the highest quality graduates who become leading specialists in the field of Interventional Cardiology.
