Why does my manager need to know I have applied? It is important for your current manager to receive notification, so they can provide a reference and also prepare to replace your position. Your current manager will work with HR to determine your transfer date based on the staffing needs of your current unit. Most likely it will be within two pay periods. The hiring manager will review your information and make a determination as to whether they would like to proceed. If selected any disciplinary actions will transfer to the new department.
