Kettering Medical Center

From specialty clinics, to general cardiology, and cardiac rehabilitation services, Kettering Medical Center provides personalized and compassionate care for each patient. The Benjamin and Marian Schuster Heart Hospital at Kettering Medical Center opened October 2010. This is a comprehensive facility with advanced technology, a cardiology fellowship, and on-going educational opportunities for clinicians and an outstanding staff dedicated to excellent patient outcomes. All 90 patient rooms are private and equipped with wireless internet. The hospital features state-of-the-art diagnostic and interventional equipment, including three new Cath labs and two electrophysiology labs. The hospital serves as a premier cardiac care facility as well as a research and education facility. Dr. Schuster served as cardiologist at Kettering Medical Center from the hospital's earliest years. He founded KMC's cardiac program in 1965 and also oversaw the founding of the medical center's heart catheterization lab, where he performed many hundreds of procedures on patients and trained dozens of other cardiologists in life-saving techniques. Over 1500 Cardiac Cath procedures and over 150 Open Hearts and TAVR procedures have been performed at Kettering Medical Center to date.

The heart hospital has five stories of patient care areas including a gift shop, pharmacy and bakery. The tower includes cardiac ultrasound, EKG and stress testing with advanced diagnostics. There is a room for patient and clinician education, along with outpatient clinics vascular wellness and cardiac wellness. Cardiac specific units at Kettering Medical Center include: Cardiac Care Unit (CCU), Cardiothoracic Care Unit (CTCU), inpatient cardiac units (2 West and 3 West), and cardiac Cath pre/post unit (2 East).

Kettering Medical Center is also a recipient of the Truven Health Top Cardiovascular Hospitals Award. The Truven Health 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals is an annual study that identifies the nation's best providers of cardiovascular service. Selected from more than 1,000 U.S. hospitals, these celebrated winners provide outstanding care and set new standards in excellence for the healthcare industry. For 2016, Kettering Medical Center has won the award for a SEVENTH consecutive year. In 2016, we received the CareChex recognitions in Medical Excellence for Heart Attack Treatment as #1 in Ohio and #1 in the Midwest. In 2015, our CareChex was #1 in Ohio for Major Cardiac Surgery.
