12 Steps to Preparing a Poster/Paper

1. Pre-Research
• Know what has been done before and do something different
• Set your timeline
• Prepare your CV
• Obtain background literature
2. CITI Training/IRBNet Registration

3. Design study/Evaluate feasibility
• Develop a data collection tool
• Discuss with mentor or co-investigator

• CORE-Register the Project ( www.ohiocore.org )
• May have resources for statistical analysis, poster templates, etc.
• Online Short Form
5. Fill out Investigator Checklist and Applicable forms
• Located on IRBNet
• Share with Co-Investigators and office of Research
6. Submit for IRB approval
• May take 4-6 weeks
7. Apply for grants/register trials if applicable
8. Data Collection
9. Analyze data for statistical significance
10. Organize into poster/paper by requirements of place of submission
11. Review with co-investigator
12. Submit/Present/Place on CV
