Program Description
The Grandview Orthopedic Surgery residency is a fully accredited four-year program that is approved for twelve residency positions. We offer three linked intern-to-residency positions per year to fourth year medical students. Our mission is to provide an environment that includes patient care, teaching and scholarly activity. We value compassion, quality, integrity, and teamwork.
The program includes training in adult, pediatric and general orthopedics, hand surgery, sports medicine, spine, amputations, total joint arthroplasty, trauma, and basic sciences. All residents and available faculty attend teaching conferences held daily. Additional academic sessions are held every Tuesday afternoon and a journal club meets monthly. All osteopathic orthopedic residents in the state of Ohio meet once a month for an education day.
The orthopedic surgery residents have their own bio skills lab and a cadaver lab is available at Grandview. Out rotations are offered at Children’s Medical Center, Good Samaritan Hospital, and Florida Orthopedic Institute in Tampa, Florida. Out time for elective rotations is also available. Each resident attends at least one educational conference a year, for which a stipend is provided.
Through our superior medical education program and our affiliation with the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Grandview and Southview are nationally known training sites for over 100 interns and residents and over 300 medical students every year. The Orthopedic Surgery Residency program is proud to continue to strive towards academic excellence.
