PRESIDENT, KETTERING MEDICAL CENTER FOUNDATION & CHIEF DEVELOPMENT OFFICER, KETTERING HEALTH NETWORK
Susan works closely with internal and external audiences to ensure a high level of support for Kettering Health Network's most pressing priorities. She was
instrumental in leading the "Because of you..." campaign for the new cancer center at the Kettering Medical Center - Pavilion. Susan brings over 30 years of
fundraising experience to the foundation. She has spent the majority of that time leading hospital and academic medical center fundraising teams, building
successful programs, and leading record-breaking campaigns at the University of Florida and Augusta University and Health System. She is a fellow of the
Association of Healthcare Philanthropy. Susan and her husband David reside in Dayton and have two children living in the Detroit metro area.
DIRECTOR OF PHILANTHROPY
Erin works closely with leadership, board members, and volunteers to maximize major gift fundraising in support of Kettering Medical Center's most pressing priorities. She brings over 10 years of experience working with nonprofit organizations, and extensive experience in major gift fundraising. Erin has specific skills directing successful campaigns, working with clients to enhance their major gift programs, and conducting feasibility and planning studies. In addition to her work as a fundraising consultant, Erin worked in university and secondary education development programs, and served for three years in the Peace Corps. Originally from Atlanta, GA, where her parents still live, Erin has two sisters. She makes her home in Dayton with her husband, Doug, and her dog, Jake.
DIRECTOR OF ANNUAL GIVING AND SPECIAL EVENTS
Amber bridges the Foundation with the greater Dayton community through a series of special events including the Walk for Women's Wellness, Ribbon of Hope, Heart to Heart and others. Through connections within the corporate community and the broader Dayton region, she relates the Foundation to individuals, volunteers and corporate partners from across the community. She brings over ten years of fundraising experience ranging from corporate and major gifts to annual fund and special events management within the social service and arts industries. Amber was born and raised in Dayton, and is thrilled to give back to the region through her service at the Foundation.
Amber lives in Kettering, and is often seen cheering for her alma mater at the University of Dayton Flyers basketball games.
DIRECTOR OF INDIVIDUAL GIVING
Jared implements and maintains key reporting structures that support Annual Giving, Special Events, Major Giving, Campaigns, and Kettering College initiatives. He brings over 11 years of hospital experience, and previously held the title of Human Resources Leadership Partner for Kettering Medical Center. Jared's passion for giving led him to launch The Unforgettables Foundation of Southern Ohio, which enables low-income families to give their children a dignified burial. He also started an annual coat drive for the Good Neighbor House. Originally from Kettering, Ohio, where his parents still live, Jared is glad to be back serving the community where he grew up. He makes his home in Springboro with his wife, Danae, and their two daughters.
DIRECTOR OF DONOR SERVICES
Susan worked in higher education for 22 years before joining the Foundation staff in 2004. Her responsibilities include oversight of Foundation fund distribution, the Grateful Patient Program,
selected fundraising, and research. Susan graduated from Miami Jacobs College of Business and also attended Cedarville and Capital Universities. She and her husband have three sons and two
grandchildren. Susan is active in her local church where she participates in women's ministries. She also serves as a volunteer counselor for Victim Witness in Greene County, Ohio.
Leslie provides administrative support to Susan Barcus as her executive assistant. Her role includes meeting scheduling, planning, and the coordination of Board of Directors' meetings. Prior to this, Leslie supported the chancellor and the board of a small university for nineteen years. With a bachelor's degree in English Literature, Leslie's background includes the hospitality industry, marketing, and sales. Born in St. Louis, she has lived in several Midwest states, Pennsylvania, and the Southeast where she met her husband, Doug, a Xenia, Ohio, native. Living on a small farm south of Xenia, Leslie loves being outdoors, especially bicycling and hiking, and enjoys reading and writing.
DATA SERVICES MANAGER
Rita manages the fundraising database and is responsible for its effective operation and integrity. She has devoted 18 years of service to Kettering Medical Center. During her time with the Foundation, her diverse
roles have allowed her to gain knowledge of all areas of development necessary to bring excellence to her position in serving staff and donors. Rita and her husband have a son and daughter and
reside in Beavercreek.
Denise is Admin Assistant, reporting to the Data Services Manager. She has a C.P.A. and earned professional-level certification for Raiser's Edge, our database software. Denise enjoys fountain pens and ink, reading, and the seven grandchildren with which she's been blessed in the past six years - not necessarily in that order. She and her husband also foster kittens for the Humane Society of Greater Dayton.
INDIVIDUAL GIVING OFFICER
Matt is a part of the Project Gratitude team, serving as a liaison for phsycians, nurses, clinical partners, patients, and donors. He was raised in Kettering, OH, where his parents still reside. Matt graduated from Xavier University and brings over 20+ years of sales/sales management experience with his last eight years in the medical sales industry. His passion for fundraising was quickly developed by voluntarily chairing the St. Susanna Boosters Fundraiser in Mason, OH. He lives in West Chester with his wife Allison, and their three children Charlie, Patrick, and Liam.
Hannah manages the ground work for Project Gratitude and works primarily with nurses to connect grateful patients to the foundation. She earned her B.A. from Walla Walla University and is currently pursuing an MBA at Wright State University. Hannah and her husband moved to Ohio from California and live in Beavercreek. They are actively involved at Kettering SDA Church and enjoy taking advantage of Ohio's wonderful bike trails.
Sarina supports Annual Giving and Special Events through external communications, fundraising assistance, and grant writing. She earned her Public Affairs degree at The Ohio State University, where she worked in research, policy, and community organization. Sarina now lives in Dayton where she is involved with the South Slavic community, an active yogi and climber, and an avid dog lover.
Kristy handles many of the day-to-day tasks at the foundation office, and brings with her over ten years of experience in Office Administration, Management, Payroll and Accounts Payable, as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Kristy was born and raised in Michigan, and resides in Fairborn with her husband, daughter, and son.
