Volunteers Donate Funds to Hospital
The Grandview Medical Center Volunteer program raises money from a variety of fundraising sales throughout the year. Annually, the volunteers award proceeds from the prior year's sales back to
Grandview and Southview Hospitals to purchase important, unbudgeted equipment. As always in the case of a Hospital, capital and equipment needs exceed the annual budget by millions of dollars, so
there are many unmet needs every year.
The Volunteer Grants Committee met recently to review proposals and deliberate about how to invest their funds. The Committee heard proposals from 16 different hospital departments; stretching their
$15,000 in resources, they were able to fund 8 priority requests. Items funded by the committee include wheelchairs for patient transport and the orthopedic unit at Grandview; a NuStep exercise machine
for the Rehab unit at Grandview; furniture for the greeting area at the Yankee Building at Southview; chairs for the grieving family area in Medical Intensive Care unit at Grandview; table side extension
rails and pads for the operating rooms at Southview; a pneumatic exam stool for the Hand Center of Excellence at Southview; and a Glidescope Plus for the Emergency Room at Grandview.
Since the Volunteer Grants Program was initiated in 2005, the Volunteers have donated back almost $100,000 to purchase a wide variety of greatly needed equipment at Grandview and Southview Hospitals. This
funding helps better serve our patients and families, and is greatly appreciated by the Hospitals each year.
