Support Groups & Education

The Kettering Health Network provides many different support groups and services - from cancer support to caring for an aging parent. Our support groups provide comfort, education, and resources to patients and their families. Learning about your cancer can be overwhelming and you may have many questions-we are here to help and talk about it with your care team and with the people close to you.

Thursdays, 4:30-5PM, Kettering Cancer Center  - 1st floor classroom

This is a free program offered in collaboration with Heartfulness Institute.

Heartfulness Institute is a non profit educational organization for wellness and training. It is affiliated with the UN Peace Program to promote peace, harmony and balance in individuals and there by in our community. All services are offered free of charge. Heart based meditation has immense benefits for over all health and well being.  Taking few minutes a day to center ourselves will restore us to a calm state of being.  No experience or advance registration is required.

This is a free program offered in collaboration with Maple Tree Cancer Alliance.  Individual sessions are also available at 6 area locations, including Kettering Cancer Center, Soin Medical Center, and Greene Memorial Hospital.  Please call Maple Tree Cancer Alliance at 937-688-3940 or 937-281-3990 to register or for more information.

This is a 9-week scripture-based support group looking at how our Christian faith can impact a cancer journey. This group uses the Cancer Companoins materials designed by Karen Tripp, LFMT.

Patients, survivors, and care partners are all welcome. $10 suggested donation for the workbook (couples can share)

This free class is for anyone beginning cancer treatment and includes an overview of chemotherapy, biotherapy/immunotherapy, and targeted therapy, common side effects, and resources. Friends and family members are welcome.

Navigating the Breast Cancer Journey class

2nd & 4th Thursdays, 9:30-11:30AM, Kettering Cancer Center – 1st floor unless noted

This free class is for anyone newly diagnosed with breast cancer and includes an overview of breast cancer disease processes, treatment options, and resources such as certified oncology nurses, lymphedema therapist, wellness expert, breast cancer survivors, support groups, and more.
